William Shaw wrote that when Kelly Preston used L. Ron Hubbard's Tone Scale to "find her character" for the film The Devil Inside, where she plays a militant lesbian lawyer, she discovered that her character was rated a 1.1: Covert Hostility. What Shaw fails to note is how consistent this negative finding is with the writings of Scientology. In Dianetics, Hubbard wrote that "the sexual pervert ([seen in] homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc....) is actually quite ill physically... But with an effective science [i.e., Dianetics] to handle the problem, a society would continue to endure perversion and all its sad and sordid effects doesn't deserve to survive."

[Not sure if something was edited out of this, but my point was that Scientology has multiple aspects that express hostility to homosexuality.]
