To whom this may concern:

This is my account to supplement the Northbrook, Illinois Police
report of June 24, 1997.

On or about June 20, 1997 I was contacted by Franz Tartarotti who told
me that he was a television producer from Germany and that he was
producing a program on the Church of Scientology for Public Television
in Germany.  He had been informed that I was a former member of the
Church of Scientology and later became a staff member with the Cult
Awareness Network (CAN).  He asked if he could interview me about my
experiences with Scientology and CAN.  We arranged it so that Franz
and his two assistants would come to my residence on Tuesday, June 24,
1997.  Franz told me that he and his crew had been in Florida doing
some interviews and filming related to the program that he was doing
and that while there they were followed constantly by up to five cars
of men whom they believed to be agents of the Church of Scientology.
Franz said that he and his crew drove to Chicago from Florida and were
followed and harassed on the highways by these same five cars.

On June 24 I was contacted by Franz who said that he and his crew were
on the way to my place and that they were being followed by at least
two cars.  I said that my residence was in a privately secured
subdivision and that the cars following him would probably not come
in.  I was wrong as two cars did follow Franz in and parked on the
street right near my home.  The individuals in these cars were taking
pictures as I came out to meet Franz and talk with him and his
assistants.  I discovered that Franz was very upset and alarmed at
being constantly followed and harassed by these cars and the men in
them.  I told him that it was very common in this country for the
Church of Scientology to have its agents follow and harass anyone who
is doing a program or story on them.  I also told him that from my
personal experience as a former member of the Church of Scientology, I
found that the Church of Scientology is an evil and destructive cult
and is a world domination scheme at its core.  And that this cult will
use any means to prevent a program or story from being done about
them.

I realized that Franz was reluctant to call the police or the FBI
because they were foreign nationals visiting in this country.  I was
very upset myself as I have been harassed by agents of the Church of
Scientology and it seemed to me to be a criminal act that these men
could follow my guests to my home and brazenly park right outside.  I
called the Northbrook Police and asked them to come to my home.

Before long there were 3 police cars and a Sgt. Eisen in charge.
Franz explained to the police what had been going on and Sgt. Eisen
approached one of the cars and talked with the two men in it.  This
car was a white 4 dr. Toyota with an Oregon license VCE 178.

The two men in this car were identified as Angel Adrian Casillas Jr.
and William Thierry Duchaunac.  They claimed to be employed by Talon
Executive Services of 1981 Brookhurst, Suite D-429, Huntington Beach,
California, 92646, telephone 714-434-7476.

The other car was a silvery color, make unidentified with, I believe,
a Florida license MBC 915.

Now, here is where the police made a serious error.  They did not get
the names of the individuals in this car and I didn't know this until
I read the police report.  There was a good deal of commotion with
everything going on and I am not sure until I get my photos back if
there were one or two individuals with this car.  I do recall for
certain a very tall white man with white hair.  He and the others
grouped together under a tree half hidden by the branches.  This tall
man seemed to be in charge of the group.  I wanted to go and talk with
these individuals but the police would not allow me to do so.  What
these individuals told the police is in their report.  After the
police talked with these men for a while they then instructed them to
leave.

My residence at ----- is owned by my friend K----.  K---- was out on
business and returned after the police had left.  Franz and his
assistants completed their interview with me and prepared to leave.  I
went over directions with them back to their hotel in Chicago and I
told Franz that I would follow them ----- until they got to the Edens
Expressway.  I asked K---- to accompany me so that she would be a
witness should there be an incident on the way.  As we came out of our
subdivision these same two cars were waiting across the street and
immediately came in behind me.  Franz drove north on ----- with me
right behind him and the two cars behind me.  We turned east on -----
and as we approached ----- the white car suddenly pulled up and cut
in, in front of my car with the silvery car right in back of me.  The
passenger was on the phone, and it seems clear he was in contact with
other cars which interceded to overtake Franz's car.  I was forced to
slow down and these two cars deliberately detained us while two other
cars immediately overtook Franz's car.  At this point as I was losing
track of Franz's car and as I came to Waukegan Road I was forced to
turn right by the white car which then sped away and did a U-turn back
to -----.  The silvery car also turned off right behind me and I lost
track of it.  K---- believes from what she observed that there were
other cars in the other lane which were now following Franz's car.
This was a frightening encounter and I was unsure of what to do.  I
had lost Franz and I was trying to locate the white and silvery cars.

I returned home and called the Northbrook Police who came to our home
and K---- and I gave them a report on what had happened.  I was later
able to contact Franz at his hotel and he said that they got back all
right but were being followed every time they left the hotel.  I told
Franz that I was going to call the FBI and I did so.  I gave a report
to an FBI agent and tried to stress the urgency of this situation.  I
asked them to at least contact Franz and I told them that the German
government had placed all Scientology members, leaders and agents
under national surveillance in that country and that this was a matter
of international concern.  I did not get any assurance from the FBI
that they would give Franz any assistance.  I called the FBI again the
next day.

I have talked with Franz several times and he has told me that he and
his assistants are followed everywhere whether they are walking or
driving and that these men following them have tried to physically
prevent them from filming.
